WID Picatinny Chapter
2018 – 2024 Term
President’s Message
Hello fellow Women in Defense (WID) Picatinny Chapter members and the Picatinny community! I am very honored to have this opportunity to serve as President of our Chapter for the next term. We have a new Board this term. And in working with them, we will continue to provide our members with a supportive environment for professional growth through personal, operational and strategic networking; promote personal and professional development through various programs and innovative workshops; create educational, coaching and mentoring opportunities to help our members gain new skills and enhance self-confidence and foster the ideals that our National organization envisioned for this Chapter.
Our first task is to ensure all our positions are fully staffed to support all our initiatives and to meet the Chapter’s commitment to report past year activities to National. We’re fortunate to have a number of outstanding volunteers who are passionate about our Chapter, its mission and building a stronger relationship with the Picatinny community.
I would like to thank our past President, Gihan Oraby, and the previous Board for their leadership of the WID Picatinny Chapter over the past two years; their many contributions and many successes helped to contribute to the Chapter’s growth. Volunteering their time in the midst of their busy professional and personal lives, is no easy task. There is nothing more gratifying than knowing I am inheriting a mission that continues the vision from of some of the most empowering women and men in our community. And we intend to follow the path that has been laid out before us to carry out the mission of this Chapter.
We have already started a strategic planning initiative for a healthy year ahead of us and we are excited about restructuring our website, launching a social media campaign and executingchapter plans to expand our network of members who are committed to our goals and objectives. We are most excited about expanding our Board to include an NDIA representativeand Military Liaison who will partner will us in co-sponsored events and outreach programs.
During the month of October, we observed Breast Cancer Awareness and I am proud to be a member of an organization which servers to support an important role in the campaign to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and a cure. In October, we held our Annual Golf Outing and Bingo events to help raise money for the cause. Both were successful events that allowed us to donate money to help save lives from breast cancer.
Finally, this is an organization that allows you to try new things, grow your skills and abilities and discover new talents you never knew you had. So, if you are interested in getting involved, please contact us today! Provide WID website or email here. We would love to hear from you. I want to thank you again for electing me as your President and I am looking forward to great times with you during my term.
Fair Winds and Following Seas,
Dr. Dion Serben, PhD
