Women in Defense Picatinny Chapter: Complete COVID-19 Memorandum
Dear WID Picatinny Chapter Member,
We are in unprecedented times. With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the massive speed at which it is spreading many things are changing the way we live our lives, we are continuing to adapt both at work and home. The NDIA National, WID National and your Picatinny Chapter, are closely monitoring the news and developments of this epidemic. We want you to know that the health and safety of our members and our community is our highest priority. We will continually monitor reports from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to keep you informed and adjust our Chapter plans as necessary.
The Chapter is recommending that while at home, you are ensuring that you are in compliance with all recommended safety measures issued by WHO, CDC, DoD, OPM, the state of NJ and your local health authorities for any events you partake in. We will work with our National organizations and DoD partners to ensure the safety of all meeting and conference participants from our Chapter for future events. We are already considering alternative calendar event planning to avoid any disruption to our Chapter operations, events and programs.
Because we are temporarily moving to a remote working culture, our participation in community celebrations and/or observances such as Women’s History Month, Bring Your Child to Work Day and monthly Centennial Vote events, will not be participated in person, but may need to be supported using different forms of technology. WID Board and Chapter meetings will be held via teleconference until further notice. As a way to increase your professional development, a small list of strategies and tools for staying informed about women activities we recommend are:
•TedTalks •Review of Women Leadership articles on sites such as HBR.org •Chapter news on our website •Web conferencing on free women events or areas of interest
Picatinny Chapter events planned for Mar-May 2020 have been canceled. NDIA conferences in Mar–Jun 2020 have either been canceled or postponed. We will do our best to keep you informed if any of these events change.
Guidelines for health and hygiene are: •Engaging in social distancing as a critical component to slow down or halt the spread of COVID-19. •Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (make it fun, sing I Am Woman). We can send you the tunes if necessary. •If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol. •Avoid close contact with sick people. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. •Try isolating yourself at home if you are sick to avoid infecting others. •Avoid shaking hands and cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. For the most up-to-date information about the coronavirus, please visit the following websites:
We will continue to monitor this situation closely. The Picatinny Chapter wishes you all well and hopes you and your families will stay safe and healthy to promote the well-being of everyone in our communities.
Respectfully, WID Picatinny Chapter Board
